In every college town there are bands trying to make it big. Maryville, Missouri is the exact same way.
On Feb. 23, students and music fans alike crowded into the Maryville Pub to hear some up and coming bands play.
The first band to kick off the concert was Northwest Missouri native, Across Autumn Sky's. With their hard sound and driven lyrics, Lead Singer Ryan Sipes and his band warmed up the crowd with their down to earth, and relatable style. The band was able to pull the audience in and put on a great show.
"Our songs have a hard sound to them and I think we appeal to people who are into metal and alternative rock," Sipes said.

They next band to go on was Tarkio, Missouri native, One Headlight High. This modern day Pop-Punk band came on and grabbed the audience's attention with a vengeance. With Ethan Piveral and Tyler McIntosh's high energy, fun and humor the band was able to bring the crowd into the eye of the storm, and never let them out of it. Having been together just over a year, this young band has lots of potential. For more information on OHH check them out at myspace.com/oneheadlighthigh.
After One Headlight High's performance, Kansas City native, Obsidian, came out even harder, giving the crowd exactly what they wanted, lots of hard rock. Recently signing with the Fuel Agency, brothers Nikk and Steven Wolf and band, came out and put on an amazing show for the fans.
"If you listen to a modern rock and roll station, all the bands sound the same. Rock and Roll needs a savior, we plan on being it," Obsidian lead singer Nikk Wolf said.
The band is currently on tour with Frequency 54. For more information on Obsidian and their tour, check them out at http://thefuelagency.net.
